How does modification using essential oil-based plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) impact commercially available wound dressing capabilities to kill bacteria on contact?
Our objective is to modify commercially available wound dressing materials that will kill bacteria on the surface of an infected wound.
Our approach is to deposit a 1,8-cineole film utilizing continuous and pulsed plasma powers on wound dressing materials. Modified materials will be characterized through goniometry to determine surface wettability, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy for elemental composition, and zone of inhibition to evaluate the antibacterial properties of the modified wound dressings. |
